Can you splice a stranded wire with a solid wire under a marrette?

If you are working with fine strand wire such as motor leads, GTF, control wire, then I like to put a compression termination on them. If you twist a marrette on these, you tend to lose a few strands reducing your current carrying capacity. Also 32-100(2) tells us to bunch tin or use compression connectors for more than 7 strand fire alarm conductors.
Yes it is permissible as long as you continue to use the max amount of conductor’s permitted for the size of the Marr. you are using.

JUST A NOTE;

When twisting a 12awg CU stranded with a 12awg AL or #14awg AL conductor that is solid or stranded the inspectors in the lower mainland espy Vancouver and Burnaby are now looking more closely for a “PURPLE” colored Marr in these cases as they (ALL SIZES), have a better HYDRO type anti-corrosion compound un like PENETROX or NOALOX in them and bursts into the wires thoroughly when twisted.

There is not one supply house in Kamloops that carry the purple marrettes.
I been using the marr 63 and 65 series

"I been using the marr 63 and 65 serie"

What if you need bigger than a 65? Also do you have to use penatrox with these marrettes?
