Interesting discussion at work recently.

AFCI's are required in bedrooms, right? Most upper hallway receptacles are on the opposite side of a bedroom wall and if arcing were to occur, the bedroom would still catch fire would it not?

Shouldn't the hallway receps be AFCI protected too?

Additonally, we understand that walk-in closets outlets (lites and receps) of a master bedroom are to be AFCI protected because they make up part of the bedroom or 'sleeping area', but what about the outlets in ensuite baths that run off of the master bedroom? Are these not to be AFCI protected too?

The requirements for AFCIs are being phased in.
Don't be surprised if more outlets and/or circuits will be required to be AFCI protected in the next code cycle.
