Hi all-

There is probobly a very simple answer to this very simple question. I have been doing networking work for a while now and I want to start my own LLC. Does anyone know whether installing cat5e or cat6 wire for network and/or voice applications requires a licence in NJ? and just out of curiosity, what about AV or CATV applications?

Not sure about NJ, but many states have limited, or other class licenses for Tele/LAN/CATV/AV at least, if it is installed as perminent. Or other "Contracting" reg's. Someplaces require a C-10 from what I understand. It would be wise to contact your License Board. (To really know, before you start up, and find out the hard way.)

I believe NJ does. Should be easy enough to find out if you go the NJ website.

Look at the link towards the bottom about the Application for Telecommunications Wiring Exemption it is the start of requiring licenses, it doesn't say anything about a test, but who knows they might ask for an interview. It doesn't sound too difficult to get the exemption.

Did you guys know that ECN actually has a page that gives the Licensing requirements for all of the states of the US.

Trumpy, California on that list will soon need to be up-dated to include Certification requirements for all C-10 Employees. Seperate from Licensing for Contractors through the CSLB.
