Hi all-
There is probobly a very simple answer to this very simple question. I have been doing networking work for a while now and I want to start my own LLC. Does anyone know whether installing cat5e or cat6 wire for network and/or voice applications requires a licence in NJ? and just out of curiosity, what about AV or CATV applications?
Not sure about NJ, but many states have limited, or other class licenses for Tele/LAN/CATV/AV at least, if it is installed as perminent. Or other "Contracting" reg's. Someplaces require a C-10 from what I understand. It would be wise to contact your License Board. (To really know, before you start up, and find out the hard way.)

I believe NJ does. Should be easy enough to find out if you go the NJ website.

http://www.state.nj.us/lps/ca/nonmedical/electrical.htm Look at the link towards the bottom about the Application for Telecommunications Wiring Exemption it is the start of requiring licenses, it doesn't say anything about a test, but who knows they might ask for an interview. It doesn't sound too difficult to get the exemption.

Did you guys know that ECN actually has a page that gives the Licensing requirements for all of the states of the US.
It's
here .
Trumpy, California on that list will soon need to be up-dated to include Certification requirements for all C-10 Employees. Seperate from Licensing for Contractors through the CSLB.
