If you've read my posts you know I'm quick with a criticism of software, books, marketing, or systems that haven't worked for me.

I've recently purchased Charlie Greer's "Service Technician Survival School" DVD set. I'm little more than halfway through the set & this is a winner.

On my own I changed a few things about my business and am having my best year ever. I've been in my own business and in people's homes for 21 years now. I have a very good clue what works and what doesn't in dealing with homeowners. He has systems for the successful changes I've made plus a lot more. If you love installing, but aren't very comfortable with the sales aspect of residential service, get this DVD set.

If I had it all to do over again I would do three things differently.

1). Do a break-even analysis first.
2). Learn marketing techniques sooner.
3). Learn sales and service with this DVD set.

Tiger you are right on it. What makes forums great is people like you showing up here.

How much for the DVD set.
I am terrible at trying to close remodel work and have a hard time when i have to explain to customer why it costs so much.

It's $1,200.00 plus minor shipping charges. It took a few days to arrive. He also has some good articles on his website.

Worth every penny, as you may know Dougie-boy.

Every day I use the lessons I have learned.

That said, Charlie is a tough nut to bust. I wouldn't want to be on his bad side. Not as friendly in person as he he comes off on his discs....

I never met charlie, but the picture they use for him in contractor magazine (for his column) gives me the creeps

I know this will sound like a commercial, but I'm not on commission.
