Has anyone ever heard of, or had any luck with Service Magic?

We tried it out for a year to give it a shot. Produced a few calls here and there. Usually a lower quality, price shopping lead. Weeding through all their junk calls looking for a good one eventually proved to be a poor use of our guys time so we cancelled. If I was starting out again, I might consider using them just to produce activity. If your already operational, I personally wouldn't recommend them based off of our experience. There are many, many other ways to grow a business using other means that statistically will generate a higher percentage of better qualified leads. We're in service only, so thats all we're after. I couldn't speculate on their new construction leads or anything else.

i tried servicemagic for a year, most of the customers want their jobs done for short money and lets face it our time is valuable, i got a lot of home shoppers looking for free estimates to take to p&s to haggle home price , and a lot of realtors looking for estimates with no intension of ever using your services, there are guys working for a days pay and are willing to give their skills away, they can have those jobs and they wont be in bussiness long at the prices they are operating at!!!!

I've tried Service Magic a couple times ove a 18 month time. Hasn't been the best experience.
I've also seen people who have had us bid on some home project only to see the price show up on Service Magic to see if someone can bid it for less.
I'd only look at it when things are reeeaaaallly slow.

SM is the best internet lead sevice on the web, which isnt really a compliment. Generally SM sucks, and the people that use it suck too. In my area, I cannot get $250 to rough and hang a fan, $120 to hang a fan, or 290 to run a dryer circuit. It is probably the best place in the universe to find cheap customers. I have bid quite a few jobs at reasonable and accurate ammounts, give the sales spiel, etc, and 80% of the time, it has been a waste of time. SM's buisness is to generate revenue by selling leads to contractors. All the hyperbole about providing pre screened contractors, excellant service, etc is just hyperbole.
