What's the play with this franchisor?

I was offered the Mr. Electric franchise for my area(Atlanta) after the previous opperator went belly up. I didn't bite, but it wasn't long before someone did.

Who knows what the franchise fee is and what the monthly fees are?

Sevaral years ago, the initial fee was $15,000.00.
It probably has gone up.

I checked into the Mr.Electric idea.They really really push you to fly to waco to visit there main location.I never went for the tour, I should have i might have learned somthing.I think it would have been $40,000 just to get started in my county thats a van, uniforms,and all the other fees.6% of monthly sales went to Mr.Electric.I have had more luck contacting people that had a Mr.Elctric that failed than i did with people that have one.They never could answer my questions like how to attract good employees,and the big one that flew me for a loop was the fact when i looked on forbes.com and it showed that mr.electric was declining and i was told that the site was false so i asked them to send me some info to prove other wise but they couldn't i didn't bite in my area but someone else did and i got a called they wanted me to look into manageing the company.LOL the guy told me to suck up my pride and stop my business and do it (i have a parttime business)just think of buying into this company and having to answer to someone pushing you to sale sale sale so they get more money.Not for this cat..

What do they do for you? Sounds like all you get is the use of their name and it's not well known. If you took that money and put it into advertising and promotion I think you could do better yourself.

I looked around online & there's a franchise for sale for $50,000 in Imperial Valley, CA. He claims gross revenues of $200,000 with 4 employees. They seem to take 6% of the gross plus 2% for advertising (national).

It looks like they get $16,000/year and he's left with $184,000 for 4 employee salaries, benefits, depreciation, repairs, maintenance, taxes and licenses, interest expense and possibly his own local advertising.

He claims the two vans included in the deal are worth the $50,000. If that's true he isn't placing any value on the franchise.

In another listing he's asking $80,000. I don't know if he dropped the price or if the $50,000 is a typo.

They also seem to have 14 fewer franchises than they did a couple years ago.

Globalbx is also listing one in S. Alabama and one in Ohio for sale. The Ohio one gave as the reason for selling..."Could not finance".
