we got a price quote on a 50KW 3-phase diesel generator of 18K and some change including transferswitch, but not-including labor of install. what would be a decent mark-up on this item, we submitted a quote to our customer that included a 20% MU +6% tax. the customer seems like they are going to have it done for the price quoted. for Future reference, do you guys feel this was too high? or about right?

well that depends on your area where are you located 20% on 18000 yeah that is fair but what about labor and those little parts of material that can add up to a few hundred dollars before it is all said and done

our way of looking at markup is the customer will pay anything that is reasonable aslong as they can't just go down to the store and buy it them self for a penny cheaper

yeah that's pretty much how we are aswell, we have labor as a seperate bill.
