I often run across a 20 Amp GFCI receptacle feeding 15 amp receptacles on the 20 amp kitchen appliance and bathroom receptacle circuits. Isn't this a code violation? Not the fact that 15 amp receptacles are on a 20 amp circuit but the fact that a 20amp rceptacle is on the circuit with other receptacles.

See table 210.24 for a nice summary of what you are discussing.

The only difference between 15- and 20-amp receptacles (of the same grade) is the slot shape. Ever notice that 15-amp GFCI receptacles are rated for 20 amps on the feed-through terminals?
