Talked to a freind the other day he installed some lighting and removed the white stickers on the base 60 watt max well some how they put in a larger bulbs and fried the wiring homeowner says his fault because he removed the labels. Hell doesn`t everyone.I finished a house yesterday and the outside fixtures had big white sticker on the glass 60 max of coarse I installed a 60 and removed the ugly sticker.

Reel-Break, manufacturers safety warnings and instructions must remain on the equipment. Your friend (and yourself) may have just learned an expensive lesson.

If the homeowner removes these stickers so be it.

I get asked to remove them from time to time and wont do it. Because they also want you to remove the sticky goo too. Damaged a frosted glass fixture like that once, won't do it again.

I have also been known to put new ones on when the old one aren't legible, or missing. Any excuse to pull out a label maker really. But I'll go out on service calls for cans and find over-lamped trims where the owner couldn't figure out which trim they had and lamp to use, and out comes the label maker.
