I'm adding a 125a subpanel on a residential job that has 2 200a main breakers at the meter feeding to 200a panels. Will feed the 125a with # 2-4cond copper from one of the 200a panels. Wondered how many sub panels I could feed off one 200a panel? Could I by code feed another, say 30 or 60a off the 125 amp? If the loads were low is there a limit on how many breakers can be used coming from the 200a panel?

I am not aware of any NEC restrictions on a quantity of sub-panels, as long as your load calcs are OK.

'Limits' are mechanically set by the mfg.
Basically....if you have a 42 circ 'main' the most you could connect to it are 20 sub's (fed by 2-pole cb's)
