I have been looking at these swimming pool ladder cups for a while and trying to figure out the problem with using the screws (no extra lug)
I see it now. Guys are installing them wrong and inspectors are looking at the connection as a binder screw that you can't use on #8. If used properly it is a molded lug. I have pictures from real installations I saw today.
Different houses in the same development.

Of course. Why would there be the two grooves under the screw if not to run the wire in.
I never even considered using them as binder screws.

Greg,

The trouble is that some people don't make sure that their connections are tight. I don't know how many pools I fail when I go out there and find loose connections on pool bonding connections. The pool installers get mad at me and tell me that "We went back and tighten it up. Can you pass us now or do you have to go back and see for yourself?" Of course the answer is that I want to go back. However that slows up the job and they get mad at me. OH WELL!

Harold,
Maybe next time they will make sure all the ground connections are tight the first time.
