i was told at work that there is a new code which requires a receptacle every 8' of unbroken wall space. can anyone help me here. i've been working indust. electrical maintenace and do not work on commercial install's anymore. thank you

As far as I know, there is no requirement for receptacle outlets at all, based on wall space.

Just for grins, lets see if we can determine the minimum number of receptacles required (2002 NEC) for a commercial building of 1000 sf. It has an air conditioning condensor at grade ourtside, nothing on the roof, one unisex restroom, one gas forced air furnace and no cord & plug connected utilization equipment. Base your estimate on this info only.

i haven't looked anyting up, but I'll open with a guess of 2 receptacles for this building.
