Most large mobile homes these days use a 200a mb loadcenter.
My usual approach to these is to mount a 200a combination meterbase/disco and pipe in to the panel with sched40 pvc conduit,supporting the conduit from the metal frame of the mobile home.
I've never failed an inspection on them,but my question,is under the mobile home,(after the underpinning is added) considered inside the building? Sometimes the distances can be up to 12 ft or so. Opinions?

Good question as to whether it's inside or out, but in your example if you've got a combination meterbase/disco as you say, it's not going to matter is it?

56,- Once you have your main disconnect at your meter base ,your conductors to the mobile home are considered to be feeders.

Oops, I should have asked, Would under the mobile home be considered inside the building after it's underpinned with concrete block or whatever material is used?

Or,is my method overkill and not required?

I have also seen that the service equipment(meter pedestal)cannot accommodate a 200A main breaker.In these situations I have installed a 100A breaker in pedestal,feeder installed is #2 URD 4 wire(100A)and considered the 200A breaker in the mobile home panel as a disconnect only ,with lugs listed for #2 wire as a 100A service(assuming the load calculation does not exceed 100A service calc.)Does anyone see any thing not code compliant with this practice? comments please. P.S . This is in a mobile home park.

That's a good question.

Two point I have run into. 1st, the underside of a manufactured/mobile home is not considered "inside", so this is ok.

2nd, to install a 100amp service for a 200amp rated home is a violation. The manufacturer wants 200amps, so you have to install it. You could get a letter from the manufacturer oking a 100amp service, but it had better be in writing. There was a case in Colorado where this same type of setup was completed, and there was a fire (not electrical) that totaled the home. Investigators found out about the incorrect service size, and the insurance was cancelled.

As an inspector, without this letter, you cannot ok the installation, per 110.3(B).

Rick, The scenario I'm talking about takes into consideration that the 200A panel and breaker is an option(a sales ad-on)and that the home would only require a 100A service. Remember that this is a feeder and is only required by code(article 550-18)to be big enough for the load served. Remember also that this is a mobile home park with a pedestal that will not accommodate a 200A breaker

the mobile home park most area i intercounter it majority have 100 amp service at meter socket with 100 amp main breaker. but when i been replacing meter pedistal i useally go with 200 amp then put the correct breaker etheir 100 or 200 amp depend on moble home breaker box rating and it will show the tag near the breaker box on outside and in this area we try to run new pedistal with new pvc sh 80 conducts to pull box there and that a idea because from time to time the mobile home have to be remove and it is eaiser for us to just remove the wire from mobile home breaker box to pull box of couse it run with sh 40 conduct underneth of mh my inspecter like the idea and alot of current place i see the wire are cut too short or wrong wire size or wrong type to use it but really most new mobile home i see it are running 200 amps now but they never put a spare conduct inside the wall in case add central a/c or etc and i hate to breach new wall to do that
