Hello,

Can you install emt on the floor?

I have a computer lab that has concrete slab floor and ceiling yet very cheap/weak partition sheetrock walls enclosing the space. The lab needs power. I have used pancake wiremold in the past and I am not very fond of it.

I want to run the emt on the slab in the corners (where it is not subject to extreme physical damage) along the base of the sheetrock walls but mounted on the concrete slab floor.

I cannot find anything that prevents me from doing this in the NEC.

Any help is appreciated.

If corrosion from floor contact is not of concern and the run does not create a tripping hazard, it should be OK.

we have alot of over head cranes in our shop and we run emt (rigid) across the floor all the time to get to equipment but you also have to take into account what Bjarney said.
