See http://www.nfpa.org/nec/TheNEC/ChangesInNEC/TIAErrata/TIAErrata.asp for the link to the 2002 NEC NFPA 70 Errata pdf file for the 1st printing, 11 pages

Thanks Joe I've been watching for that. Seems like a lot of changes.

Did you note Change 16 to RMC 344.42(A)? this concerns threadless connectors, it was submitted for IMC and changed but I did not see this for RMC.

Tom:

That missing sentence for IMC will probably be added to the next list of errata.

I just looked at the text in the 2002 NECH CD Rom and in the PDF 2002 version, and the language is in both places.

I also looked at my NFC CD from the May meeting, and they are there too! I guess the errors are found in the 1st printing.

If you are a member of NFPA you can access the NEC online, I wonder if that version is with the corrections.

Listen, it is not easy and before computers and the internet, we did it all by the "good old evil eye" and it was time consuming, but still was not easy to find all of the errors in the 1st printing --- there will be errors that show up through most of the printings and that's why no one is perfect.

PS: Look at the * notes in Table 310.13, are they in the correct places?

Joe,
For years, I would buy the first printing hot off the press and then enter all the erratas. I've since started holding off on buying the NEC until the 2nd or 3rd printing that usually clean up the earlier errors. Do you know if the 2nd or subsequent printings are out yet? Regards, Art

Art:

The best way to get an answer to your question is to call NFPA in Quincy, Massachusetts.

I have a few thousand 1st printings that must be used before more copies can be purchased.

I think that, although the process is time consuming, that keeping the first printing and marking it up is best, because the future printings usually include additional errors that will be added to new lists that should become available on the necdirect.org website.

Joe

Joe it has to be a huge undertaking to keep all the proposals, comments and final language straight. And NFPA does not have luxury to all review beforehand.

I've tried my hand at writing so I know how easy it is to err.
