How about this,

My specs say to use the standard black, red, blue white and brown, orange, yellow, gray color scheme to identify the branch circuit conductors in this building. They also say to comply with 210(4)(d). MC cable is allowed in this job to a certain extent. In walls above ceilings and branch circuit home runs up to a certain point.

My question is how am I supposed to comply with the specifications color code requirements and make labels in conformance with 210(4)(d) when using MC cable for both 120/208V and 277/480V systems in this building? When using MC cable any sort of branch circuit color-coding tends to go out the window, especially on the 277/480V circuits. [Linked Image] [Linked Image]

Check out this web site they have many color coding options as well as oversized neutral and feeder cables.

Why can't you just use different colored phase tape?

Not allowed perjob spec. [Linked Image]

Sounds like "boiler plate" spec writing to me. Time to submit an RFI, or make a phone call to the engineer to get past this little glitch.

Nick,
I've will-called cable a few times at AFC's place down here in Anaheim.
They've got miles and miles of M/C in the 277/480 colors in stock.
Their "Rainbow" marking system allows you to tell what wire is inside the cable from the outside armor's color/stripes.
You shouldn't have any problem getting it in this area.

Cool. Thanks Scott, I'll check it out! [Linked Image]

Whew! Confirmed that BOYG colors are readily available. Got the engineers OK today to phase tape when running 12-2 on a B or C phase circuit. [Linked Image]
