Would you consider an equipment grounding conductor having green insulation with a white stripe, used for an isolated grounding system, as meeting 250-119?

I don't see how. Green with yellow seems to be the only alternative to plain green.

Nope.

OK, let me add this.
The plans and specs call for the above senario and the are approved through plan check. Does the inspector now have to accept it?

I don't believe any inspector HAS to accept anything. They usually have final say.

BTW,
Why not change the color?

The inspector doesn't ever have to accept something just because it's made it through plan check. This comes up on a regular basis. If you mention it, the inspectors just get mad (power trips). Someone just needs to call the engineer and have him modify it.

(Where the heck are you even going to find green/white tracer wire?)

This was a Walt Disney Imagineering spec at California Adventure. All the jobs are done now and that's the way everything got installed. The city of Anaheim accepted it. When there is over $100,000,000 worth of worth work going on and your the only GF on site saying it's not right, your voice does not carry very far. [Linked Image]
It's a special order but you can buy it. $$$$$$! (To my surprise I was even able to obtain 750MCM with green insulation earlier this year on another job. It was only a modest $10.00 per foot!)
I was afraid we were going to be stuck in the middle. If we installed green/yellow stripe then WDI would not accept it at punch list time. If we installed green/white stripe the inspector may not accept it.(You see where I'm going with this!)
It all worked out in the end. All the various inspectors accepted the white stripe. Just an example of the big money folks getting what they want regardless of what the NEC states. I have more examples on this project, if your interested.

(snipped text) I have more examples on this project, if your interested.

Nick, per your latest message regarding Disney's California Adventure project, maybe you can shed some light on a situation that has been on my mind.

When the 138 KV feeders [or are they 220 KV] were relocated from the original Parking lot to the perimeters of the new parking areas [on the newer - lower tan colored steel structures], why were the conductors on both circuits [sides] completely replaced within 1 year of circuit reconfiguration?

Also, did one of those 66 KV circuits become a Dedicated Feeder Set to Disney?
Prior to the California Adventure project - there was the two circuit 138 KV [or 220 KV] run, plus 2 separate 66 KV runs [one with two circuits, the other with only one 3 phase circuit].
The 66 KV feeders are now run underground [risers start where the old miniature golf course used to be, and come up by the Apartments off of Walnut St.]
The deal is, now only the single circuit 66 KV run is continued, plus the steel towers for the other 66 KV run have been removed!

They must have 15 different primary feeders from Anaheim DWP!!! I have seen an easy seven or more 12 KV feeders going to Disney before the project. Now nearly all is underground, but there was a bunch of ducts entering the vaults from the Disney directions when the street work was going on!!!

Got any clues??? [Linked Image]

Did the Anaheim Inspector call Disney on anything at all?
When Disney says "jump", the whole City of Anaheim lifts about 5' into the air!

I've talked to a couple of Anaheim utility guys. They told me that the distribution work in its entirety was funded by our $$$, and kept their line crews so busy that the rest of the City's distribution system maintenance was neglected.

All of this so that they could consume 40 megawatts (enough for 9000-10000 homes) having "Electrical Parades", while we're out buying compact fluorescents and giving our "Appliances the afternoon off", waiting for the rolling blackouts.

Boy, am I a grumpy curmudgeon, huh? (4:30 AM) need coffee.

I wish we still had a choice over here. Since the IEE decided that green/yellow was to be the only allowed color for earth cables, the manufacturers stopped making plain green.

Scott,
The lines you are referring to are 220KV. (I'm about 95% sure)I have no idea why they were replaced so soon! I didn't give it a second thought when I saw Polk & Steinly stringing those up last year. [Linked Image]
Disney does not have a 66KV sub so I am not sure what happened to the other circuit. Mabey it headed north and tied in with the one that runs down Ball Rd? [Linked Image]
I am not sure of the exact distribution scheme in the new park as Steiny did that part before any of the new construction started. I do know it is a 12KV loop (similar to the old park) but I don't know how many redundant feeds. As we maintain an ongoing presence out there I'll try to find out for you. Last I knew the old park had 2 12KV circuits in a double ended lop scheme. The administration building and parking structure to the north (Ball Rd.) has it's own 12 KV circuit and distribution.

Electure,
Actually inspections out there were extremely tough. Anaheim is a tough city for electrical inspections. Your right though. Don't ever say "they will never get that by the city" out there. It's amazing what they get by with.

One other thing about theme parks. The are exempt from California's tile 24 requirements! I doubt the "power crisis" effected them at all. [Linked Image]

I just today ran into some office furnishings with a sealtite whip that contained:
1) Black, red, blue,& green #12, with a white #10 neut.
2) For iso, #12 orange, white/orange tracer, and green/orange tracer.
Manufactured in Canada, it had both UL and CSA tags.
Go figure!
