If a porch is enclosed does that make it subject to required receptacles and spacing rules?
What makes it a "habitable" room?

Article 220.3(a) mentions open porches shall not be included concerning computed branch circuit loads. Article 210.52(a) mentions a sunroom shall be included concerning receptacle spacing rules. I wasn't able to locate any other "somewhat" applicable code article. My opinion is that if the porch in enclosed and has heat, then Article 210.3(a) applies and receptacle spaceing rules should be observed. (Frank) cinkerf

Frank,

Thanks for the reply. I think that the presence of Heat is a general guideline for determining this - at least where We are (NY & PA). I wonder though if that would be the same in our warmer states that perhaps don't need heat in every room?

What is the definition of " sunroom " as used in 210-52(a) ?

If an installer advertises' the installation as a sunroom or sunporch, does that make it such ?
