Wonder if someone can refresh me on the code for main lug only panels? As long as I have a Main breaker in the "Service Equipment" outside at the meter, can I use a Main lug panel for the interior panel?? Thanks, Steve

The short answer is yes you can use a MLO if the disconnect is inside or outside the building served. 225.32 & 230.71(A)(1)

There used to be an extra fly in the pudding when we had "lighting and appliance" panelboards but that went away a cycle ago.

Thanks Greg. That's what I thought, but didn't remember the code reference. For the homeowner's convenience, I usually go ahead and install one with a main breaker anyway, but on a job I'm fixing to do, the main lug panel will probably be better, and always a little cheaper:)
