Does Vision clinic come under 517 Health Care Facilities??
if they just adjust & fit eyes glasses I;d say I'd say NO.
If they examan Eyes ( test for eye problems )??not sure
If they do eye surgery or any invesive surgery I'd say yes

Anyone run into this before??

Do they have a machine that plugs into the wall and also contacts the patient, like that thing they measure eyeball pressures with? If so, that goes on a 517 circuit.

At least that is my understanding of why we want redundant grounding. The eyeball is a very undesirable fault path.
Makes my eyes water, just to type it.

I tend to agree with Greg. Equipment that contacts a patient is HCF wiring method.

The equipment has a HG cord cap 99+%.

If it is a patient care area then follow 517

If there isn't any machine contact with patient, you might want to get a letter from the people running the clinic stating that. This way if a machine goes in later you would be covered for liability. I was told by an EC that the office he was wiring didn't have ANY patient machine contact. I got a letter from the owner stating that fact. I was just trying to cover my posterior.

What about those vision test machines at the DMV, do they make the DMV a health care facility?

Does those machines require a HG outlet? Is there the 'green dot' on the male cord cap? Mfg instructions/directions? DMV here is State responsibility, so I have no field experience to go by.

The DMV machine does not make contact with the eye. In a vision center they have that thing that tests eyeball pressure by direct contact. Big difference.

Last time I saw a DMV vision check was when I got my drivers license over 40+ years ago! What was the code back in '63-64???

FYI, vision re-testing is not required here!

They have it here but it is a pretty rudimentary peek into a viewer and the card never changes so if you have a decent memory you can just repeat what the person in front of you said. It only checks distance vision. I need glasses to read but I do fine on the DMV test.
Eye doctors are required to contact DMV if your vision degrades to the point that they think you can't drive. That happened to my father in law but he passed the DMV test so he is still going.
