Tried to do search nothing came up on this discussion at work we are having.
Residential recepticals get mounted with ground terminal up or down?
Thanks.

This again? There is no code. Either way is acceptable. It is a matter of local custom/personal preference.

Rob,

As Greg explained, there is no NEC compliance issue for Receptacle orientation, per Residential installations.

The orientation is personal preference (Ground Pin Up or Down);
*** Provided...
The Project Manual / Specifications on Plans require Receptacle Ground Pins to be at a certain orientation.
This would make the requirement a Design-Issue, not a Code Compliance issue.

I think there may be requirements in Hospital installs, which Ground Pin orientation has relevance to a given Code... but since I do not have much Hospital experience, I could not vouch for accuracy!
Members with more Hospital experience should verify this claim.

I'm going to lock this thread.

The question's been answered adequately.
