In proposal 9-103, I had proposed language to make markings next to, or upon, a breaker acceptable identification- instead of using the provided door-mounted "directory."
In rejecting this proposal, the code panel stated that the code 'permits a directory on the panel face' and 'could' include markings on the breaker itself.
Indeed, at least one panel maker provides stickers (to be placed next to the breakers) rather than a 'card' for the door.
SO- as I read this- all those 'literalists' out there, who have been insisting upon the 'directory' being filled out, and not recognising the markings next to, or upon, the breaker as adequate.... the code panel says you're WRONG!
