I have a corner sink and the left side of the sink i have a wall to mount receptacles on no problem, the right side is just counter top with a 1' over hang, from the back right hand corner of the sink it's 4' to the end of the counter. I'm told there has to be a recept. 2' from the back right corner of the sink where do you guys put this recept and how high. also the counter and over hang are the same height.

See article 210.52 for kitchen countertop receptacle spacing. The 4' countertop space needs at least (1) GFCI protected receptacle and that receptacle must not be higher than 20" above the countertop surface. Most kitchen countertop appliances have 24" cords and this is why receptacles are required every 48."

Note that the 2' measurement starts at the edge of the sink. See figure 210.52 on page 53 of your 2005 NEC for an excellent pic of your situation.

Can you mount a wiremold receptacle, face down, on the bottom of a peninsular counter that doesn't have a horizontal surface within 6" of the edge of the counter? How about a boxed in receptacle under the edge (Inverted tombstone) facing out. What if the peninsula had a horizontal lip on the end or sides deep enough for a receptacle?
I don't really know the answer, just speculating about at the things that are unspecified. These peninsulas without a real support "base", either cantilevered or on legs, are always thought provoking.

Does this counter form a penisula to the right of the sink? If so, different rules apply.
