Any reason a Slaughter House/ Meat packing plant can't be wired all in P.V.C. ?? (For washdown purposes mainly.
No reason at all, according to the NEC. Actually, this is a very wet, corrosive place, and PVC might be a good idea.

That said... make sure the USDA inspector agrees!
The meat packing places I have done PVC is required. You also have to use clamps that hold the conduit off the wall. I use 2 hole PVC straps that suround the pipe, they hold the conduit 1/8" off the wall so the pipe does not trap crud aganst the wall. Keep in mind that you need a 1/4" space behind the conduit unless it's nonmetallic conduit mounted to concrete, masonry, tile, or a similar surface.
