Funny you should ask. One of the members of the Codes and Standards Committee stopped by my cubicle and inquired of me if the 2005 NEC was better than the 2002. I replied in the affirimative, and the next thing you know, they had adopted the 2005! Of course it will not become effective until January of 2006, but that is close enough.
Incidently, they also modified it a little in CT : smoke detector outlets will not have to be AFCI protected in bedrooms, footing rebar in new construction will not have to be used as a grounding electrode (but you could if you wanted to), GFCI protection is required for all 125 volt, 15 and 20 ampere receptacles within 6 feet of any sink or lavatory in any occupancy (not just dwelling units), and GFCI receptacles are not allowed to be installed under the skirting of a hot tub.
