It's been a while since I have done a 200 amp service, I'll be using 4/0 AL for service. #6 to ground rods. Does the water main get #4 ? Sorry to sound stupid just having one of those days.

6 for the ground is ok check 250.66

250.66 says 4/0 AL with copper ground is #4. Or am I reading wrong?

#4 copper to the water main will be fine, and meets code per NEC.

If I can run a #6 I will do that any wire I do not have to buy at these prices will help.

The ground rod conductor can be #6 but you still have to bond the pipe with #4.

oppps

I didn't catch the reference to the water pipe. Sorry

as gfretwell stated.
Interior water pipe requires a # 4 The rods are fine with the #6.

Sorry again
