Am I right in saying that a permantly wired circulation pump for a swimming pool DOES NOT have to be GFI protected? Only if it is cord and plug type? Thanks Steve..

After paging through article 680, I can't find anything that says it has to be only if it is cord and plug type(680.22 a(5)). If it was my pool I think I would want it protected anyways.

Me too. The cost of that breaker is a lot less than the hospital bill/liabilty claim in the event someone gets lit up from a faulty motor.
