I'm feeding a 480v fire pump,if I put a dissconnect after the meter do I still have to put the feed in concrete
With the brief amount of information you've given us the answer is No. Need more details.
Refresh my memory someone! Doesn't this disconnect have to be available to qualified personel only?
Larry
The disconnect is 10" from meter.
sorry the fire pump is 208v.It's 480 going to transformer.
695.6(A)&(B) seem to require concrete, 1 hour rated circuit protective system or within a 1 hour enclosure.
For a job of this nature as an inspector or a contractor, I'd be looking at the plans that should be available with an engineer's seal on them.
Definitely get the plans and engineer with you. I just finished installing a 480v fire station yesterday.
BTW, check for continuity. 480v bomb went off due to my boss forgetting to check for continuity on Phase C. Can we say kaboom? Thank goodness the fire station was disconnected and only a crimp barrel grenaded.
The feed needs to be ahead of the Service Disconnectg and remote of other disconnects. What are you doing with the jockey pump???
