I was wondering if you have ever seen support hooks like the attached. They were removed by a co-worker from his house (which is apprx. 120 years old). The triplex going to his house was supported by a more standard porcelain insulator, and this hook was nearby. Note in the second picture the slot in the middle w/the threading... looks like the wire was put through there and some sort of cap went over the top. In my 13 short years in the business I have never seen these and was wondering if anyone else has!

I think I seen something similar in a place that had Delco power.

The threading looks like it accepted a porcelain insulator at one time...

The thread is for a standard glass pin-type insulator and are fairly common in older neighborhoods in my area. Some are still in use.

You're right there!.
The groove in the thread, is so that the Porcelain Insulator doesn't split when screwed on to the hook. [Linked Image]
