Right,
Lets kick this off.
Grounding (or Earthing as we call it over here) is the most important conductor in any Electrical system, without this conductor, the system has no safety margin to it.
Also without an Earthing conductor, the protection will not operate under fault conditions.
Grounding is the ideal way to start a Code!!. [Linked Image]

Was grounding in the very first American code? There's a link to that very early (and short!) code somewhere around here.....
