It's getting lately where I'm not so concerned with the immediate danger of electrical work as watching out for the other trades around me. A lot of these guys either don't care, or they're pushed so hard that they aren't safe to be around.

A plumber who thinks he owns the place and drops all his materials in a doorway...a roofer dropping his hammer...a guy on a lift almost running over my tools...and fork truck drivers running over my extension cords.

It's getting where I prefer going in on a Sunday so I can have the place to myself.

I used to enjoy going in on the last sundays before inspection and day after thanksgiving, etc.

I could listen to my radio, not have to move for the HVAC guy (for the 9th time)...

Sure Dave,Doug, you have to be aware of the other trades around you, but on the same side of the coin, it's up to you and you alone as to how your site is run.

I was livening a transformer for a new house out in the country just before Xmas.
I just put the first HV fuse in when a Ute shot seemingly from nowhere and straight into the pole I was working on.
Snapped it off at bumper hieght.
It was the GC, turning up for work.
I reckon he had only just sobered up.
He sobered up when we gave him the bill for the snapped pole, damaged lines and blown fuses back up the road.
6 AM must be too early for some folk!.

A ute is a term used here to describe a open back, flatbed pickup truck.
Plumbers and builders worship them here!.

In some areas of the USA a "ute" would be considered a "midnight supply".
