On a 30 amp circuit (10/3 romex and 30 amp breaker), supplying a single outlet in a garage (for a table saw), can a 15 or 20 amp receptacle be used (to match the 15 amp 220 volt plug on the saw), or must it be rated to the full current rating of the circuit, i.e., 30 amp receptacle?
Thanks

You can remove the 30 amp breaker, install a 20 amp, keep the wiring and install a 20 amp receptacle (look for a commercial back wire that will accept 10 awg).

In addition to this, Table 210.21(B)(3) requires a 30 amp receptacle on a 30 amp ckt. regardless of how many receptacles are installed.
