I am working on an older fountain and installed a gfi to protect the pump and 3 lights. The lights are 120 75w spots, dry. The pump is a small 1/10th hp. This is all on a single 20 amp approx 70 feet away.
My problem is that the gfi randomly tripped and now won't reset.
There are no short in any of the wiring.
Any sugg would be appreciated.

try a new GFCI. you may have a bad device. motors can also cause the GFCI to trip.

I had a similar experience with a fountain. The problem I had was with the motor. Try to isolate the pump if you can. Try plugging it into a GFI that you know is working. If it trips, then you know the pump is bad. Otherwise, the problem must be in the GFI, or wiring.
In my case, the pump had to be thrown away because it was impossible to fix.
