Would anybody be able to give me some technical answers. I tried to connect a gas furnace last night and didn't know how to tie in the auto water feed or the make up air fan. The wiring diagram confused me. I am going to go back today around 10:30 but Tech reps aren't available till Monday. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. What kind of gas furnace has a water hookup?
Is this a boiler? What is the "make-up-air fan? Is that a combustion air fan in the furnace room or a unitary part of the "furnace"? Most if not all furnaces have their draft inducer and blower motors internally wired in the equipment harness, it is not usually part of the electrical connection, as part of their aga approved status. There is usually one point of connection for line voltage and one point for class 2(thermostat, control). Is the water hookup for a humidifier, or is this a cutoff for a steam boiler? If this is boiler wiring, let the heating guy do it, this is generally not covered by a sparky's liability insurance.

I started over today by hooking the gas fired steam boiler up without the accessories and it works fine. The fan is a make up air fan that has 120v supply (I think that is supposed to be constant) and 3 terminals marked T1, T2, T3. These terminals must have some way of both controlling when the fan comes on as well as providing a safety so that the boiler doesn't come on without it being on first. The other accessory is the water filler for automatic water replacement as the boiler water level gets lower. This is supposed to tie into the lower water level control where it appears I also need an additional 24v source to provide power to the water filler valve. I will contact Burnham Monday for the answer so that I don't waste any more of your time with incomplete descriptions but thanks for the help. This sight has really impressed me with the amount of good samaritians that can be found here.

I hope you have a heating professional there to analyze the flue gasses to make sure that the gas and air is adjusted properly. The reason that there is a makeup air fan is probably that there is not enough air to completely supply combustion air plus draft air so that the exhaust gets out of the house.

I HOPE THAT NO ONE IS IN THE HOUSE IF THE FURNACE IS RUNNING WITHOUT SUFFICIENT MAKE UP AIR. CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING IS A REAL AND DEADLY POSSIBILITY !!!!!!

You got that right, to space is where the building went. I think they put all those extra wires, and switches on boilers just to confuse you.
