It cracks me up to see **** advertising to be plumbers, electricians .. they must have big trucks to be able to carry all the materials to do it all.

Would it do any good to foward the ads to the state ?? As far as I know NJ does investgate these ****

Well,
I think that that is an issue for CraigsList to address.
I don't personally think that it should be bought up here.

Mike (Trumpy)

You're right that this is an issue.

NJ Board of Examiners does 'investigate'. And it is "ILLEGAL" to advertize work for $$ that requires a Professional Lic..

In reality, the BOE is probably about as understaffed as a few other State agencies.

As to catching the 'illegals' it's really tough. They work at night, weekends, out of cars, etc.

Call "Jon" and give him some "work"....Have him call you back at your work number:
(973) 504-6410

For those not from NJ, that is the number for :

Quote

Inquiries or complaints about electrical contractors should be sent to:
Ms. Barbara A. Cook,
Executive Director,
Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors, P.O. Box 45006,
Newark, N.J. 07101,
(973) 504-6410.

That should be a nice wake up call for them...let them rat themseleves out!

Celtic:
Last week, the Board receptionist said.....
"we don't take complaints on the phone.....all complaints have to be in writing"
(Not a direct quote)

I downloaded the complaint form at the website.

John

PS: 'JOHN' with a 'H'; i'm not the Craig's List guy!

But think about it HotLine....

Joe Handyman(JH) calls the Board of Examiner's(BOE) and it goes like this

Ring Ring
BOE: Hello BoEoEC, where can I direct your call
JH: Yea, a...I got a call about some work you need done
BOE:...work I need done?
JH: Yeah, that's right
BOE: Sorry sir, but this is the BOE.
JH: The BOE???
BOE: Yes, the State Licensing Board for Electrical Contractor's
JH: click.

I suppose you could fill out complaint form ( http://www.nj.gov/lps/ca/complaint/eleccom.pdf ), I would consider sending one to Joe Handyman and let him fill it out. LOL

Several of the local inspectors here have given their cell numbers to some of us licensed contractors and told us to call them directly to report non permitted and non licensed work activity. They want us to call while the illegal activity is taking place since the only way they can bust them is catching them in the act.

So if you are on good terms with your inspectors, mention the idea to them.

RE : RE :I AM THE PLUMBER THAT PLUMBERS RECOMMENDI AM THE PLUMBER THAT PLUMBERS RECOMMEND that you STAY away from..

I have NO plumbers licence, NO Insurance, I don't pay taxes on the money I make doing this like a legal company does. I buy my sub-standard parts and materials at Home Depot like all handymen do.

I think I know the plumbing codes.. not sure however .... since I cant pass the master plumbers test.

When I do sub-standard work for you ..and you have a prolblem.. to bad so sad !!! Call my office and file a claim with my insurance company ...

NOT !! Haha .. WHY you ask ?? I am a handyman .. I aint gots no stinkin office!!! AND I DON'T need no stinkin insurance !!! But you will !!!
