Is this an international thing, or is it celebrated only in a few countries around the world?.
Over here in New Zealand, it's on the first Sunday in September, meaning it's on the 3rd this year.
To all of you folks that are fathers here, have a good one!!. [Linked Image]
Any gifts you have in mind?.
I'd also like to hear of any disappointments in the gifts you got!. [Linked Image]
Your call folks.

One other thing,
Now I'm not a father myself, but at the age of 36, my better half and I are looking to start a family.
I have been told by various people that father-hood is a priviledge that a lot take for granted.
{If you have issues with your ex-partner, please do not post them here!!}.

Mike, making them is the easy part, looking after them is a lot harder.

Although fatherhood is great and I love my kids to bits.

Good luck in starting your family Mike.

well, there is an old saying in german-

"Vater sein ist nicht schwer, Vater sein dagegen sehr"

which translates roughly as-

to become a father is not difficult, but to be a father, on the other hand, is very..

correction:

"Vater werden ist nicht schwer, Vater sein dagegen sehr"

CRW,
Thanks for that bit of info.
I think that that date here is Mothers Day.
{Someone please correct me if I am wrong}.
I can agree with what Ray and Ryan have said above.
So I am told, Father-hood is one of the more rewarding aspects of life, regardless of the trials and tribulations.

You want ankle-biters? Bah! Got away from mine by emigrating, before they made me bankrupt!

Father's day? A crappy sentimental card and a pair of ghastly socks, then they're touching you for 500 sobs to pay for car repairs after an electric pole jumped out in front of them!

Kids?! Boil 'em down for glue, I say! [Linked Image]

The perfect Father's Day?
They're on the other side of the English Channel. Hooray!
