On a bathroom I'm remodeling in my house I want a LCD TV in the tub/Vanity area. It would be flush Mounted with the receptacle inaccessible. The problem will be that it is only about 1.5ft from the tub and 4ft from the rim horizontally. Of course it would be GFCI protected, but still wouldn't meet code. I personally don't see a hazard here, it's less likely to cause a problem than the radio sitting next to my sink at the vanity, in fact the radio could fall in the tub too where it sits. Can anybody give my some way to make this "legal", it's not being inspected, but being a licensed EC I think my house should be up to code.

recess it in the wall and put it behind glass. Then it really isn't in the same room.

I don't really want to recess it behind glass, but thanks for the idea. What about this - LCD TV's use a transformer (like a laptop computer) what if I put the outlet and transformer in the attic and run the low volt side of the xfmr in conduit to the back of the TV? Then there is no outlet in the bathtub area.

The backlight in an LCD monitor/TV still runs off a fairly high voltage. Get it behind glass or buy a industrial NEMA 4 washdown version...

Seriously though, if I'm understanding this correctly, "1.5ft from the tub and 4ft from the rim horizontally" sounds like everything will actually be outside of the perimeter of the tub. In that case it would meet the NEC. Right?
