I have a G.C. who is on my back about closing a shaft that has to have a mi cable installed. The mi cable is not going to get to the job site for another month. The print shows 3-#2 and a #8gnd M.I. I believe the #8 is a mistake because the copper sheathing will be the equipment ground. Can I sleeve the shaft with EMT or PVC? If I use EMT, do I have to bond the MI cable to the conduit? Is PVC permitted in the shaft? What size conduit should I use and can I have any bends for a 60-foot vertical run?

You can 'fish' MI, and based on a quick read I did not notice any restrictions on putting it in a raceway

WATCH the bend radius, it's based on the OD, & you probably fall in the '9 times'. You need the OD to decide on conduit size. As to PVC, what is the rating of the 'shaft'

Is it possible the 8 AWG is actually a reduced neutral?
