I am on assignment in Afghanistan and you would not believe the violations going on here, I would like to share some of them. How can I get the pictures posted?

They still do have enough general human rights and rule of law violations on top of building codes issues to sort out. That said, I would love to see them!

Ok, I sent off 2 to get this started. As far as I know there is no local or country code but I am on Bagram Air Base and there is a requirement to meet NEC/IEC, this of course is impossible but we should be working in that direction. If it were not for the serious personal safety issues it would be pretty funny.

Hope this will be educational for all. I am doing my part trying to make things a little better for these people, this is by far the most backward place I have ever been in.

Of all the countries in the world, Afghanistan probably have the worst odds of having an electrical code. It is not the thing you have on the top of your agenda when the bullets are flying...

I've heard that what little electrical wiring there is, stems from the periods of British and Soviet control.

I understand that they use BS546 (the old round-pin British) plugs, at least to some extent.

Remember the picture someone posted - I believe it was taken in Iraq - with the British plug that was missing its cover...and someone had replaced the fuse with a drill bit!!?!

That was just a drill to prepare you for the real pics from Afghan Roger...
