Is it true that those old porcelain sockets are no longer allowed for closets?

I am just wondering because I have them in my closet with a switch outside the closet and I was told to replace them with a glass shaded fixture. Someone else said a recessed fixture is te code.

Is this worth doing?

... First of all,..it's a Code violation to have an open bulb in a closet,..you have (4)options here,..
1... an incandescent fixture that completely encloses the bulb,..
2... a recessed fixture with a shower trim installed so that the bulb is not showing,.
3... a fluorescent fixture
4... put a blank plate on the box and forget the whole thing..

... There are even specific locations in a closet where your light can and can't be..See NEC NFPA 70,article 410.8

We are all in the trade and should at least share some details.
