I'm on a job where a hotel is being converted into an assisted living home. On the plans the engineer calls for 2 225 amp panels to come off one 2.5" run with 4/O from the switchgear. The 4/0 will terminate to a 225 breaker in the switchgear. He has it drawn that taps are made for each panel with a 225 main.
Is this common, it's the first time I've seen it drawn like this. Are there any restrictions by doing it this way?

The only restriction is the calculated load

You can have as many panels as you want fed from one feeder.

Do it very often... One 42ct with lugs in, and lugs out, to another 42ct through a nipple right next to it.
