What's the difference between electrical drafter, electrical engineer and electrician?
About $50K a year
Actually, EE designs, drafter draws, electrician installs and repairs.
LOL
I was thinking a lot of things, none of which where appropriate for a nice clean forum such as this.
I was thinking the first draws pretty pictures, the second doodles, and the third makes it work.
The engineer thinks he has it right, the drafter, fixes most of the engineers mistakes, and the electrician fixes the engineers and drafters mistakes.
We all come together to make a well oiled efficient machine. (Practicing my politician skills)

Roger,
Yes, that is what the result should be, when there is good communications, on the project.
Guess who makes the light turn on at the end of the day.
Edward
A draftsman knows what symbol is used for a GFI.
An electrician knows how to install a GFI.
An engineer knows that an op-amp is used in a voltage amplifier arrangement to remove clamping current from the miniature contactor when the toroid sensing coil detects a net magnetic field due to unbalanced current flow to make a GFI work. But proably couldn't pick out a picture of one in a lineup.
If all three of them were to do service changes, the one alive at the end of the day would be the electrician.
One difference between engineer and electrician is that engineers write specifications to describe how the job is to be done. Electricians do not write specs unless it is on the back of an old cigarette packet. They all ignore written specs anyway as all they ever do is state the bleeding obvious.
The electrician corrects what the others guess at.
Engineer tells you where he wants it.
Drafter tell you where it Should go.
Electrican puts it where it'll work and fits.
The engineer specs out the 1" rigid pipe for a hundred telephone lines.
The drafter draws the 2" pipe on the plans.
The electrician sits down with the construction managers and support personell, and modifies the plans to make it all work.
Consider this:
Who among the three is rightfully deserving to be proud of his accomplishments because they are seen, used, and depended upon by so many others?

"Electricians do not write specs unless it is on the back of an old cigarette packet "
How politically incorrect is that statement ? We now use a piece of cardboard from the box the connectors came in !

"Electricians do not write specs unless it is on the back of an old cigarette packet "
Reminds me of the old Bob Newhart sketch
Abe Lincoln vs. Madison Avenue.
"You made some changes? You typed the speech?! How many times do we have to tell you Abe -- The backs of envelopes. That way it looks like you wrote it on the train."
As Paulusgnome said, electricians state the bleeding obvious, Engineers ignore the the bleeding obvious and drafters don't know the difference. As far as old cigerette packets are concerned, we call that recycling.
