Guys,
There is a new round of e-mails in circulation as far as I'm aware as I'm the second person to get an e-mail like this that I know of.
Upshot of it is, you will recieve an e-mail that would appear on the surface to be from a legitimate source (ie: your ISP or any mail server you may use).
In the Subject line there will be a message Failed Message, Failed Mail or Failed E-mail Message or some other variation on that.
There will be an Attachment with the e-mail(s) and for Goodness sakes don't open it!.
Just one in a long list of things that annoy me about the Internet these days. [Linked Image]

Trumpy, another variant is an angry e-mail purporting to come from someone who's been receiving some of your e-mails, which are being passed on to you via attachments.
Same old same old.

Add the mails supposedly from PayPal and eBay requesting the urgent confirmation of details due to "suspicious activity" on your account.

The last such I received had a link to a webpage hosted in Brazil!

If you don't know the person any email comes from, or if you do know them but don't know if they practice safe computing/surfing, then don't open it, especially not any attachments.

I just got a failed email message that looked like it came from my isp with a attachment. I opened it and it was a email I had sent. Now what do I do? Hope it was from my isp or just wait for my computer to crash?

Adam, if it was truly an email you sent, then it sounds like the notice was real. Opening an email (text) is not quite as dangerous as opening an attachment, especially if the suffix is .exe or another excecutable.

I would recommend not openning an attachments unless you are expecting it. Back in a former life when I was a programmer, one of my fellow programmers opened an attachment and it sent a virus to all his contacts. Which mostly was our primary contract. They almost cancelled our contract due to that!

So be very careful with attachments, even experts can be fooled.

Good points guys!. [Linked Image]
I see that the other sort of e-mails are doing the rounds now too.
I've just deleted about 15 "Your new password" emails from my account.
They all have attachments and they are also unsolicited.
So into the Trash Can they go!. [Linked Image]

thanks larry, it was a email I had sent that came back with a undeliverable message. My origonal email was a attachment to that message. I had opened it right before I read this post, and not knowing that much about computers, was kind of wondering if I had done something stupid.
