Does Anyone knosw about New Jersey (Asbury Park) licencing Requirments. I'm a Long Island, New York Electrical Contractor who has an opportunity to do a decent size project there and would even consider a joint venture if i cannot obtain licencing in the time frame that it is needed. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You in advance..

It will take several months to be approved to even take the exam.
Then several more to take it.
Then several more to receive your license, if you do pass.
If not, 6 month waiting period to re-test.

It is a 7 1/2 hr. test comprised of...
4 hrs NEC
2 hrs NJ Business Law
1 1/2 hrs Alarm Systems

best bet is a "joint venture"(JV) with an established contractor....assets remain individual co.s, JV purchases/leases all equip. for the project.

"Farming out" or "leasing out" a NJ EC Lic is a felony. The offending NJ EC may lose their lic. and never be able to get one again.

Oh yes, Asbury Park, best you find a green contractor to partner with, most of the contractors working down there are still waiting for payment.

what is Asbury the land of the thieves and dead beets or what. I have never been there before, However the company we will be doing the project for is a national chain that has been excellent to us for a while now. I have been bending over backwards for them for a while and they have no problem paying there bills.So im not that concerned about payment, However its large enough that i would like all my ducks in line and approach this the right way. prior to this project all of there work for me has been N.Y. based.
