Would it be possible to start a new Forum: "Tips & Tricks for Working-Alone"?

I am a one-man operation and would like to hear how others do things when they are in the same situation as me.

Thanks

I was wondering if somewhere we could provide a link to "commonly used abreviations".

That way I could understand what some of the guys here are abreviating, and understand the threads a little better.

Try not to work alone, it is dangerous.
Now having said that, I know it is impossible, but the best advise I can offer, is shut the power off whenever possible. And make sure someone, whether the customer or someone else knows where you are. If something, god forbid, does happen, it won't take a week to find you.

Definately try and turn the power off every time and keep a cell phone with you. I was hoping a new forum would get people to share how they have done difficult tasks by themselves and little secrets that alleviated the need to have a helper.

I don't know if this needs it's own section, other than what the General area provides. We wouldn't want to help the weekend warriors kill themselves. I've worked alone for 20 years and would be glad to help (with tips) if you have any difficult situations.

Usually the type of help I wish for is a gofer to save me 30 trips to the truck, and someone to help pull & lube the long wire-pulls.

Jeff,

If it gets to where there are a lot of discussions on a specific topic and it would be helpful to keep them together a separate area could be provided. Otherwise I think too many Forums is a detriment.

There are a lot of people here in the same shoes, or who were at one time. If you've got any specific questions feel free to ask away right here in the general area.

Bill
