Just wondering how you guys that are one man shows set your residential generators considering most are over 600 pounds. Do you have the dealer deliver and set them or rent equipment to do so?
Bob
I've always rolled them on conduit to the pad. Haven't had a problem yet, and I set a 25kW on a hill (slight) this way using the truck as an anchor.
Good luck with your install.
Rob
Thanks for the quick response. I was thinking that would be the way to go.
Deleveries are only curbside. I always get crane company to set the generator in.
Edward
Edward,
I was mainly referring to residential retrofits jobs, a crane seems a little overkill for a small generator but I'll bet it's been done.
Have only installed one of these (for a friend), and we used a rolling engine hoist he had in his garage....
Believe it or not towing companies are used in this area for a lot of this. A flat bed tow truck can transport quite a large genset and place it wherever you can back the truck into. Not a lot of money and they are happy to do it.
