Here's one for the resi guys- what's your favorite box/cover combo for flush to hardwood application.Address is high end,
so I'm betting cosmetics will be a priority;
going there tomorrow.
The best looking floor outlet I've seen is a small round one made by Carlon. I liked them so much we put about 10 of them in in a 2 week period. We then learned that they break apart and the box push through the floor (the brass stays put) about the second time someone plugs something in. We had to go back and glue them back together at each house, a real pain and embarrassment.
Basically I'm saying don't use the round one from Carlon, it's crap.
Carlon also makes a real nice rectangular one with a brass duplex cover with flush covers, very thick. Adjustable floor box too. The kit runs about $55.00 each, I had to bring the part # to my supplier and he ordered them, they been in 2 years now no problems. Go to the Carlon website you will see them.
Yeah, I saw the carlon's on their site; I have the box part of the plastic cover kit (musta used the cover somewhere.)
do they cut in and secure ok for old work?
It's hardwood so I'd like to use the brass rectangle cover;if it would be removed the fix may be easier. thanks
The rectangular boxes by Lew work great for cut-in applications.
I like the P&S floor boxes. They come in many colours and even brass, are virtually flush fitting, and even have a plastic cover when not in use. Expensive, but very nice. The Brown works best for most hardwoods.
