Were doing a 600 ampere service so instead of renting a puller, I was thinking of investing in a nice tool. I know Greenlee makes real good quality machines. I was wondering if anyone owns or works with the Maxis pull-it 3000 red puller. Any info or tips would be greatly appreicated.

I am also looking into the Maxis. So far, I've gotten two interesting reviews:
From a toolhouse: "Greenlee used to sell it (TRUE), but dropped it because there were problems- but it might work for light duty"
From the parts house: "We sell them...about half the buyres love them, the others bring them back for refund (no problem)"

I suppose if your main desire is to let one guy pull mutliple #12's, in longer runs... or for smaller feeder runs (2/0 and smaller), the Maxis will probably work out.
For the long runs of 500MCM, you'll probably kill your hole-hawg.

I bought one about a year and a half ago and I have only used it a few times.
I think it works great!!! Easy to use, light weight. The largest run so far has been 4 x 4/0 plus ground over 400'. the run was 4" EMT and 3 90's. Email me if you have any specific questions. I may be able to answer them.

That review may be right about it being a "light weight" puller. To be a little more fair, I think it could probably do medium duty as well (whatever that means!). It is a nice puller- light, pretty strong, and it fits in tight spaces and in unusual positions. Those are the 2 qualities I most appreciate.. The other puller at our shop is a big greenlee puller on wheels. I have had the pleasure of hauling the greenlee up 3 storeys in commercial buildings and would much rather have had the Maxis (we didn't have it at the time though..) For resi underground subfeeds it is ideal, but for longer pulls of larger wire, you probably need something bigger.
