My dad had a TE54 sent down to me. It's been used, but it still works. I'm wondering how many of you have used the TE54, and whether or not it can handle driving 5/8" ground rods. I realize it depends on the type of earth/rock you're driving into, but I'd like to know how the tool fared. What are it's limits (what have you subjected it to) for drilling? I plan on buying a rod driver attachment right away, but don't want to waste my money if the tool can't handle the job.

While I have not used that particular tool, it looks similar in size to a Hitachi that I have used with some success.
Assuming that this tool has an SDS-Max or spline drive, drilling is for all practical purposes limited to 1.5 inches; larger than that, and you really want to use a core drill, rather than a solid bit.
Consider yourself blessed; I have nothing but praise for every Hilti tool that I've used.
