Is it common for the inspector to leave a sticker on site?Sometimes don't know if they even showed up . How is it where your at?

They usually leave a sticker or initial the permit on site. Occasionally they leave a correction notice.

The only problem I've had in regard to a sticker is the POCO won't connect unless there's an inspection sticker on the meter socket. In their usual style of "quality customer service", if there's no sticker they leave without doing the work and without informing anyone that they were there.

I leave a report on site. If it is a rough inspection I leave it connected to the EGC in the closest switch to the garage. If it is a final I leave it on the counter.

We are required to sign the job card, issue a correction, or leave "door knocker" (probably akin to sticker in other jurisdictions) if the job is locked up or not ready or the plans and/or job card is missing.
Of course that's if we can even find the jobsite. Some of you guys think we are mindreaders. You call for an inspection in a 14 story building and don't give a suite number let alone the floor number.
Or you call for an inspection in a 10 acre campus that has a dozen buildings and don't tell the guard at the gate that inspector is coming and where we are supposed to go. So I sit there for while he calls someone who is in a meeting who doesn't know anyway and has to call someone else to find out in the end that no one knows anything because (as I find out later) it's being handled by facilities personel who are offsite at a seminar. So I turn around without ever entering the gate.

And then you call my boss and complain that we are holding up your job. I just gotta laugh!!! Absolutley hilarious!!!!!!

WV State law requires a copy of the inspection report to be given to the owner. I'm not sure if this applies just to us agency inspectors or if it also applies to inspectors that work for city & county governments.

NJ:
Insp is required to leave a 'sticker', white for OK/Pass/Final, etc, or "red", actually day glow orange for 'fail'

Fail is supposed to note NEC Article infraction.

Permit application copy is with Insp, yellow card and plans are to be at jobsite.

BTW, 'stickers' are just that; 4"sq adhesive backed.

The above is the perfect world version of the State requirements.....

On a second note; filling out the permit application completly, and legiably will be a great help.

As to 'showing-up; if the EC/HO calls btwn 7:30-8:00 AM, we both will give a 'ballpark' time

Now, I have ran into the 15 story office bldg, no clue where the job is; the 1 mil sq ft warehouse, and the house without the #
the wrong street, etc.

As an EC, I also have wasted numerous hours, and a whole bunch of futility waiting for an AHJ that never showed; having 300' of 3' wide, 4' deep trench still open at 3:30PM.....still waiting, etc.

I see both sides of the fence for the last 3 years, and it's tough on both sides guys.

(Min of 15 insp tickets a day, from a furnace (resi) to oh yes, the 250k to 1M SF warehouse, dist ctr, regional mall, and a lot more.)

How about "2 recept" in MACY's Dept Store???

Leave a sticker? Our Inspectors won't even knock on the door unless escorted to it. You must meet them in front of the address, if you're inside working, they leave.
